Welcome to

Adding Adaptogens to Your Diet and Daily Life

at Sweetgrass Farm

This is a one day class where you will learn how to eat, drink and cook with adaptogens, along with 5 hands-on recipes to get you going. If you are not familiar with adaptogens, you can find out more about them here. This is not a class on how to change your diet, but rather how to add the nutritional and healing benefits of adaptogens. The recipes will primarily include teas, soups, broths, drinks, dressings, sauces, puddings, tonics, elixirs, herbal mixes, as well as grains and salads. We will discuss recipe ideas and all the many ways to easily add adaptogenic benefits to your current diet. Each recipe is designed to target and support one of the following:

1. calming the nervous system

2. assisting better sleep

3. soothing the gut and digestion

4. supporting a happy heart and more energy

5. improving immune function

We will discuss each adaptogen’s properties and benefits as we use them in making the recipes.

Important Note:

Some adaptogens are known to have conflicts with certain pharmaceutical drugs and medications. For this reason, I have chosen not to include those that are known contraindications. I will note any potential conflicts or issues with the adaptogens we are using, and provide alternative adaptogens if you have any concerns.

Recipes for each of the health categories will include one or more of the supportive adaptogens listed below.

My goal for these classes is to inspire you to take more control of your own health and wellness by embracing the intelligent powers with which adaptogen plants have been endowed. Everything we need to sustain our well-being is growing in the earthly garden. One does not need to become a master of all the adaptogens. You will find the right plants to which you will align, and consistent use of them will greatly strengthen your resilience to handle stress with more calm energy and better immunity.
